Henry van de Velde
2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of what Walter Gropius founded in 1919 as the art school "Staatliches Bauhaus". The Bauhaus came into being as a union of the "Grand Ducal-Saxon School of Art Weimar" with the "Grand Ducal-Saxon School of Arts and Crafts Weimar" founded in 1907 by the Belgian Henry van de Velde. The school buildings created by this ingenious and eloquent architect are now home to the Bauhaus University Weimar. In honour of Van de Velde and the Bauhaus, the watch model bearing his name and face was created, engraved on the watch cover. Whether the larger men's version or the discreetly smaller one for ladies: simple elegance and clear lines are the statement. Only in the Weimar luxury hotel "Elephant" is a special model with the iconic Elephant logo available.
